KC Section and YMG teams up with APWA KCMetro Chapter to support Friends of Johnson County Developme

On Saturday January 21st, 18 volunteers from ASCE, APWA, Friends of Johnson County Developmental Services and the ASCE/APWA student chapter of UMKC spent most of their Saturday painting inside a home in E 1201 Loula Street in Olathe, KS. During this event, the volunteers placed some sheetrock, and painted the home which was about to house 4 individuals with developmental disabilities. The organization Friends of JCDS provides support to these individuals by providing low rent housing and job opportunities for them to lead a regular lifestyle. In addition to painting, the volunteers were tasked with clearing some areas inside the home and assembling some furniture. We thank Friends of JCDS for allowing us to support their cause and to ASCE and APWA in Kansas City for providing lunch!
