A Panel of Professionals @ UMKC

The YMG hosted Adrian Keller, Lori Gies, Mike Winckler, Jeff Bartz & Terry Uhl as a panel for the discussion with the ASCE UMKC Student Chapter. During this hour long discussion about expectations during the career fair, transition from students to professionals, graduate school and our panelists’ careers, we had great engagement of the students with our professionals. The KC ASCE YMG appreciates the opportunity to participate with the UMKC student chapter in this annual event. We look forward to engaging with students, and good luck to them at the career fair next week!

ASCE YMG Tours A. Zahner Company

Last Wednesday 25 YMG professionals enjoyed visiting the office and fabrication shop of the A. Zahner Company. All were thoroughly impressed at the eccentric design and intricate details faced with every project. After the tour, the group enjoyed apps and drinks at the Cashew. This was a great opportunity for some of our YMG folks located further north in KC to join in the action. We hope to see you next time!

South Lawrence Trafficway Presentation

On Wednesday October 7th, we had a great turnout for the professional development event presenting the South Lawrence Trafficway – West Leg Study. The presentation highlighted possible design alternatives for upgrading K-10 from a two-lane expressway to a four-lane freeway in an area with tight curves and limited right-of-way. Thank you Jesse Kuhlen and Ryan Robinson from HNTB for giving the presentation. We also thank the Kansas Section YMG for teaming up with us, and everyone else who came to see the presentation!
