Website Updates

As a group, we prefer to keep everyone up to date with emails and on our Facebook page rather than posting on this page. We continue to operate this website because it is a great resource for accessing our past events, for getting in touch with our officers, for details about our Annual Golf Tournament, and a place where you can see upcoming events. For more information or general questions, please contact us using the Key Contacts tab.

Welcome to the ASCE KC Younger Member’s Group

Welcome to the official website of the Kansas City Section of ASCE Younger Member’s Group (YMG). The YMG is deeply rooted in community service events, social events, and professional development functions that benefit ASCE Members 35 and younger in the Kansas City Metro area. We look forward to continuing a pattern of growth for the Kansas City YMG. Kansas City YMG members are encouraged to bring a friend or coworker to the monthly meetings or to one of our numerous service projects, other social activities, and professional development opportunities. With your help, not only will our membership continue to grow, but we will be able to better serve the residents of Kansas City by reaching more students in regional schools, helping the disadvantaged through our community service events, and providing more functions for our members. For more details, please visit our Facebook group.

ASB Bridge Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The Kansas City Section culminated a decade-long project in dedicating the ASB Bridge and cutting the ribbon on the counterweight memorial site. The counterweights display fascinating engineering information as well as the plaque commemorating the bridge as an ASCE National Historic Landmark. Many families and ASCE members were in attendance on a beautiful morning where the YMG set up a demonstration bridge, a historic speaker told stories, and the project was glorified by many speakers. The keynote was given by the ASCE President-Elect Dr. Norma Jean Mattei. Food was served, and Kansas City engineering was a spectacle for a few solid hours.

STOP Midwest Corrosion Hosts the 2nd Annual Corrosion Expo!

STOP Midwest Corrosion hosted the 2nd Annual Corrosion Expo at the Kansas City Builder’s Association. The event served several sectors of the engineering and tradecraft industry, bringing together professionals and craft workers together in a forum to discuss the latest in corrosion (certifications, best practices, and products). The most notable facet of the exposition was the setting. Attendees were able to pour over the actual test setups, materials, and equipment used for example applications. Some were even working on their certifications during the demonstrations. There was a class worth 1PDH held twice, back-to-back, over the lunch hour. This added convenience for professionals to stop by during lunch. Door prizes were awarded, and one of our YMG members won a 32” TV!
